• Fringe‘s Joshua Jackson has some interesting things to say about Fringe and The X-Files. First, he says that comparing Fringe to The X-Files is ‘lazy’, to which I say, “If by lazy you mean accurate, then yes.” But then he goes on to say he wants Fringe, in later years, to be the show future new SF shows are compared to, the same way Fringe is compared to The X-Files. Well, Fringe has a long way to go to get there, and not being as big of a ‘hit’ as The X-Files doesn’t help.
  • ABC has ordered a pilot of the DC Comics property, Fables, about fairy tale characters living in exile in New York. Having never read the comic, I have no idea if it’s any good. Anyone?
  • Battestar Galactica returns on Jan. 16th and in effort to drum up more hype, Sci Fi Channel is releasing more webisodes leading up to the premier. There will be two a week for five weeks, starting on Dec. 12th. The storyline sounds kind of odd, considering a Raptor isn’t that big so how could a ‘killer’ hide?
  • And in case you can’t remember what’s happened on Galactica over the past three years, Sci Fi has posted a handy dandy 13 minute recap video, “Catch the Frak Up!“.
  • Apparently, the developer behind the Stargate Worlds MMO, Cheyenne Mountain, hasn’t paid their developers in over a month, and yet they say the MMO isn’t in trouble. If not now, certainly in a month or so when people start leaving due to not being paid. It’s too bad, I was looking forward to this one.
  • Showtime is developing a new SF series called Syns, which “centers on a world in which humanlike synthetic organisms, known as Syns, are used for various purposes.” Hmm, sounds rather like Dollhouse and to make the comparison stick even more, Syns used to be called Dolls’ Hospital. I wonder why they changed? Is it just me, or does anyone else think that David Brin’s Kiln People would make a good series?
