- Have you been keeping up with Cartoon Network’s Clone Wars? If not, you’re in luck. Starting today, all 10 episodes will be streaming, for free, on Cartoon Network and at StarWars.com. New eps being on Jan. 2nd. I haven’t really watched it but I know John finds it enjoyable enough. What say you?
- The BBC keeps coming up with interesting genre shows. I’ve seen, and liked, the BBC produced Life on Mars, Primeval (ok, ITV not BBC), Hex (well, the first season anyway) and Hyperdrive. Now there’s one more that I have missed: Merlin. It appears to be doing well as the BBC has ordered a second season for the show. Any of our British readers care to comment on Merlin?
- If you didn’t know, CBS owns the TV.com site, and they have re-designed the user interface for it. Not surprisingly, it looks a lot like Hulu. Unfortunately for CBS, TV.com is no where near as usable or intuitive as Hulu. And while it may have as many, or more, streaming shows on it, I can’t tell because of its confusing interface. A nice try, but not good enough.
- Fresh of his turn as Gort in The Day The Earth Stood Still, Keanu Reeves tells MTV that he has a desire to make a live-action version of the awesome SF anime Cowboy Bebop. Never mind that the animated characters show more acting range than Keanu, apparently he wants to bring a little Johnny Quest ‘lips-only’ moving action to a live version. They’ll have to change the ending though to make it more ‘Western’, otherwise they’ll alienate a lot of viewers.
- For many children, waiting for Christmas is an agonizingly slow process. Many LOST fans would agree, as we still have just under a month to go until the premier of Season 5. To tide you over, here is a new S5 promo:
Please please LOSTmas, won’t you arrive faster?
- Lastly, here is webisode 3 of Galactica’s ‘The Face of the Enemy’ as we also count down the days till the part 2 of Season 4.

Merlin is unashamedly trying to capture the same audience and time slot as Doctor Who, in other words, kids. The Arthur legend has been hacked to bits but the programme is generally entertaining for younger viewers, with plenty of sword fighting. Personally I found myself rolling my eyes a lot and saying how stupid it was.
Well, Keanu shows more acting range than DiCrapio, yet everybody’s amazed by that guy’s “talent”.
Even though Spike Spiegel is emotionally stunted, he’s also a bad-ass martial artist and has a basic understanding of comic timing. I don’t think Mr. Reeves has it in him.
As for the ending, I’m fine with it… even though I’ll carry that weight a long time.
True, Merlin does mess with the Arthurian legend (Gwenivere as a servent who has a cruch on Merlin?), but I kind of had fun seeing how they altered things and played against canon. I found Merlin online when I was sick and looking for something to watch. I watched the 8 episodes I found, and I must say it was very nice sick-day viewing. I thought the show was old and dead, but now that I know it’s coming back for a second season I’ll have to check it out and see if I enjoy it as much when I’m not sick-adled.
Please, Santa, don’t let Keanu anywhere near Spike, Jet, and the Bebop!
Woof. That project would be about as culturally-necessary and successful as the Aeon Flux remake.
Hopefully, Hollywood execs will decide it’s too much of a niche to merit a feature-length film.
