Once upon a time, Shane Acker created a short film called 9. Well, now he is working on a feature-length adaptation called, appropriately enough 9. Check out the trailer:
Wow, I really like the way this looks, as if Tim Burton got a hold of Oddworld. That may not be the most accurate assessment, but it's the first thing that popped into my head while watching. 9 also has the voice talents of Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover (Marty McFly's dad in Back the the Future), Commander Koenig himslef Martin Landau and Christopher Plummer. Wow, nice cast! I know I'll be watching.
9 is scheduled to be relesed on, of course, 9/9/09.
Hit the jump for a bonus!
Remember I said 9 was a short film before becoming a big screen movie? You are in luck! Here is the original short in its entirety. Minus the big name cast.

I saw this trailer on another website the other day and was thrilled. I hadn't heard anything about it before then. I'm excited that the year will start with a film like Coraline only to be followed up later by this. I hope they are both amazing.

The character design reminds me of Sack Boy from LittleBigPlanet (LBG). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LittleBigPlanet
