  • Joss Whedon has some things to say about his new series, Dollhouse. He talks about the development process, the negative buzz that has occurred and wants the haters to give his show a chance. I'll be watching.
  • Brannon Braga talks about his pilot for the SF show Flash Forward, based on the Robert J. Sawyer book of the same name. The premise is that everyone on Earth has a premonition about the future, 2 minutes 17 seconds into the future to be exact. The cool thing is that the show is designed to reset itself after every season with a new flash to start the succeeding season. Of course, Heroes wanted to follow that too but didn't. This one may be more successful, but there had better be a reason behind why the flashes keep occurring.
  • How about a little light reading? The Friesian School has this interesting article entitled The Fascist Ideology of Star Trek: Militarism, Collectivism, & Atheism where they explore the ramifications of the society as described in the two early Trek series and the movies. They also explore Firefly as the anti-Trek, although for my money they could have gone more in depth about Firefly.
  • David Hewlett talks to TV Guide about his role as Dr. McKay on Stargate Atlantis, Jewel Staite and more things SGA.
  • We're all doomed! Ok, maybe not so much. But astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson talks about 'end of Earth' scenarios, and others, in his book Death by Black Hole.

The only haters Joss Whedon really needs to worry about are the same ones we all need to worry about: the network execs that will no doubt kill the show well before its time...if they even bother to give it a chance.  And no, I'm not bitter about Firefly. ;)

I don't think it's "2 minutes 17 seconds into the future" so much as "2 minutes 17 seconds of the future." I haven't read the book, and for all I know they've made very significant changes, but my understanding is that the "flashed forward" is a momentary glimpse a couple of decades ahead.

Which, come to think of it, really sounds like I'm nitpicking.
