Random House Announces Suvudu Free Book Library
Random House, Inc. today unveiled the first five titles in its new Suvudu Free Book Library, designed to introduce new readers to popular and acclaimed science fiction and fantasy series.
The program launches with access to the following novels:
- His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik (Kindle version)
- Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb (Kindle version)
- Settling Accounts: Return Engagement by Harry Turtledove (Kindle Version)
- Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson (Kindle version)
- Blood Engines by T.A. Pratt (Kindle version)
This is really great news, but do I think providing eBooks only in PDF format limits its reach. If you’re gonna take a cure from Baen’s free Library, go all the way. But maybe that’s just me.
[UPDATE: There are free Kindle versions, too, linked above. via MobileRead]
[3/10 UPDATE: The books are now available in multiple formats!]

Yeah, I really can’t imagine reading all of Red Mars on my computer.
