- Fans of the canceled Pushing Daisies have yet to see the final three episodes leading up the the cliffhanger ending for season 2. Good news! Those episodes will appear on the season 2 DVD set and ABC says it will air them sometime this summer (after our British friends get to see them). If you're looking to see the story lines resolved, Brian Fuller has stated he will continue the story in comics and, possibly, a feature film.
- Battlestar Galactica composer Bear McCreary has been tapped to score the music for the upcoming Xbox 360 game Dark Void. Aside from the whole 'Watchtower' fiasco, I enjoyed his work on BG. Hopefully he can bring some epicness to Void, which is about a retro-jetpacking wearing hero.
- Sci Fi aired the new Stargate: Universe trailer last week and I have to say, if I didn't know what it was about or who was involved, I would be underwhelmed.
- Doc Arzt has new twist on LOST posts, as they go through "Whatever Happened, Happened" scene by scene. The cool part is, instead of focusing on plot or characters, they are looking at the cinematography and how LOST is shot and explaining how those choices affect the viewer. Very interesting stuff and you'll pick up some things you'll notice from now on and you'll be able to make some judgments about other shows as well.
- The new science fiction anime show, Shangri-la, just began its run on Japanese TV. The cool thing about this is it will be available, for streaming (free!), 1 hour after the original broadcast time. Supposedly it has an English sub available, but I can't get it to work... At the very least, it's a way to dip your feet into the anime waters (although this one may be a bit odd, even for the Japanese)
- Full Metal Alchemist is one of the best anime series I've ever seen. Now it appears it will be getting the reboot treatment, and a new series, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, starts April 9th in Japan. Funimation will begin offering the series on it's website starting on April 13th. I'm assuming this means with subs, but I'm not sure. In any event, I'll go check it out.
- The Star Trek movie site has released this interesting flash-based site showing various artist interpretations of the Enterprise, based on the actual 3D models created for the movie. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a fan of the new look. My favorite is still the Big E from the first movie.
- The countdown to Star Trek keeps going and we keep getting new TV spots. Like this one below. Is it just me or are they going a bit far with Uhura? More and more this doesn't feel like Trek...

I've been debating all along wither or not I want to go see the new Star Trek movie because no matter what it's not going to be the characters I know and love. On the other hand it IS a remake/reboot whatever, so of course things are different and I should stiil give it a fair chance, right?
About those Stargate Universe Trailers - as a long time fan of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis I'm feeling underwhelmed. So far very little about it has impressed me...

I'm a die-hard fan of the original Star Trek, but I'm looking forward to the new movie. Yes, it looks different, yes it has an edgier kind of feel, but the bottom line is I get to see my favorite characters alive again and engaged in a story on the big screen. And Abrams seems to me to bring a certain kinetic energy to the whole Star Trek Universe--a revitalization, or re-energizing of the theme. It doesn't get any better than that.
