- There's been no official word from Fox about the future of Dollhouse, but Joss Whedon tells fans to keep hope alive. According to Whedon, if the remaining four shows do well, there's a chance Fox will renew the show for a second season. Having stopped watching after 2 episodes, I can't tell if this is good or bad. Anyone still watching Dollhouse care to opine?
- If you're a LOST fan, you owe it to yourself to go read the LOST Mise-en-scene series of posts on the Doc Arzt blog. They are chock full of editing and cinematography goodness how that relates to the finished product on TV. The latest is no exception.
- Speaking of the last episode of LOST, "Some Like It Hoth", once again we see why Hurley is best character on the best SF show on TV. Aside from the great interplay between Hurley and Miles throughout the episode, we also get Hurley's view of 'daddy' issues, viewed through the lens of The Empire Strikes Back. Succinct, to the point, and all Hurley. See it below, starting at about the 3:30 mark:
- Michael Cerveris plays 'The Observer' on Fox's Fringe, showing up at odd intervals throughout the show. Now Fox has taken him viral. His character has been on American Idol and the recent NASCAR broadcast (which the announcers seem to ignore him completely), but I have to ask, if you don't know who this guy is, how are you going to find out about Fringe? Would most people head off to the Google to try and track him down?
- Baseball teams do all sorts of things when it comes to special promotions, including bobbleheads and Hot Wheels giveaways, to the standard T-shirts and caps. But the San Francisco Giants, on April 27th, will launch the Star Trek Movie Night where $20 will get you into the special Star Trek section of the stadium and a giant Star Trek foam finger. For those of you wonder just WTF this has to do with Star Trek, remember that Starfleet is headquartered in San Francisco. That's it, that's the link. Still, I want a giant foam finger. If anyone goes, send us pictures of you and your finger!
- The German website, Colesseum has posted several snippets from the soundtrack for the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie, composed by Michae l Giacchino. Can he due justice to the Alexander Courage and James Horner themes? We'll find out.
- In case you are unclear on the concept of Sci Fi's Caprica series, Ron Moore helpfully explains:
- Recently we noted that both the anime series Fullmetal Alchemist (new version) and Sahngri-la are being streamed, by their studios, on the web shortly after airing on Japanese TV. Add to this list the new Code Geass series which will see life on Crunchyroll. Not content with just an English sun, there will also be an English dub available as well. Props to Sunrise for doing this and avoiding yet another battle in the ongoing sub/dub geek war.

While I admit, seeing The Observer on other shows without any way of non Fringe viewers (apparently 99.9% of the people I hang out with!) to know who he is or why, it's kinda cool to find yourself playing "Where's Baldo" on other programs.
And for the record - I don't watch American Idol or Nascar, but I saw the clips.

Dollhouse has been getting better, and seems to actually worth the investment... but still doesn't wow me like a Joss endeavor should. It's easy to blame FOX's meddling, but it might just be that I'm not ready for a grown up, non-smartass Whedonverse.

You stopped watching Dollhouse much too soon. It improved steadily, and the last few episodes have been terrific.
Unfortunately, the numbers haven't improved along with the episodes, so I'm pessimistic that the remaining episodes will pull it up to the point necessary for renewal.

Jeff and David's comments are both good ones.
I only stuck with Dollhouse because of Joss, and increasingly because of Dichen Lachman (I think Eliza Dushku is a no-talent doll in real life). Were it not for Joss I would not have bothered to watch the first episode. But it is improving greatly.

I agree with the others - Dollhouse got much better by the middle episodes. I'm not so sure I agree that the last two have been the best so far, but they are certainly a cut above the pilot.
I wish it wasn't in that Friday night 'kiss of death' timeslot because I'm convinced it would do better anywhere else, but that's where it is. I just wish Joss would move it shows to USA or A&E where they - and the 2 million viewers per episode - would be appreciated. On FOX it's weak, but for those networks it would be a top show.
