George Lucas Reacts to Box Office Success of Star Trek

I would have thought that Lucas might have reacted to the success of Star Trek by "re-imagining" a Star Wars universe that resets all the rules. Say one in which...oh, I don't know...Han shot first. Instead he's taking a more direct approach...

The Enterprise is also a hovercraft?  Or is it a derigible?

Is there anything 23rd technology CAN'T do? (other than fill our hearts with love...)

 

I hope the Empire recycled all that...
