The Peter Watts interview is well worth the click -- in depth and 8 pages long. While I think that he has some valid criticisms for the art chosen for the cover of Blindsight, I believe the design on that book is second to none. It's a beautiful jacket with distinct color choices highlighting the art. I recall the first time I saw it on the shelf and how magnetized I was to the book. All said and done, the Tor art department scored heavily.
