Sawyer spoke at the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania about cognitive science, neuroscience, and “other areas that informed the portrayal of a sentient World Wide Web in his 2009 novel Wake and the uploaded consciousnesses in his 2005 John W.
