I am almost certainly going to be called a pain in the butt for the following. I see this error constantly among writers and bloggers. As the resident geezer geek for most sf and tech blogs, I beg you:
You wrote "There's only 2 days left" the correct construction is "There are only 2 days left".
The verb "are" applies to the 2 days, a plural subject. The verb "is" would only apply of there were only 1 day left.
You would recognize "They is great writers." as an incorrect construction (I hope!). The same rule applies here. There is probably a technical term for this, but it escapes me at the moment.
Sorry to be a pain. You're not the first whom I've tried to correct, and you won't be the first to ignore me.
