There are some slick looking films coming our way. Which one do you most want to see? Check 'em out:
When God loses faith in Mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. Humanity's only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael. This looks awesomely creepy-scary at times. I definitely want to see this...if there were someone there to hold my hand.
Maurice Sendak's classic book comes to the big screen in an adventure tale for every generation. Where the Wild Things Are follows the adventure of Max (Max Records), a mischievous young boy who is sent to his room after rebelling against his mother (Catherine Keener). Max's imagination is free to roam, and it soon transports him to a thriving forest bordering a vast sea. Delighted, he sets sail for the land of the Wild Things, where mischief reigns and Max rules. In bringing this imaginative fantasy to life, Jonze leads a team of filmmakers incorporating the most dynamic elements of voice performance, live-action puppetry and computer animation.I have a kid. I have no choice but to see this. Fortunately, I'd like to.
Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist named Tenma (Nicolas Cage). Powered by positive "blue" energy, Astro Boy (Freddie Highmore) is endowed with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly.Embarking on a journey in search of acceptance, Astro Boy encounters many other colorful characters along the way. Through his adventures, he learns the joys and emotions of being human, and gains the strength to embrace his destiny. Ultimately learning his friends and family are in danger, Astro Boy marshals his awesome super powers and returns to Metro City in a valiant effort to save everything he cares about and to understand what it takes to be a heroAnother pretty looking film. Man, has animation come a long way.
International trailer for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus shows never before seen footage from the film along with the first shots of Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law.Depp, Law, Ledger (in his last role) -- and stunning visuals. Another film I would love to see.

The Fourth Kind certainly looks interesting. Communion told Blair Witch style?
Check it out, John.

I was pretty ho-hum about the idea of a "Where The Wild Things Are" movie, given that it's a fairly short and perfect book. And I was puzzled that Spike Jonze was doing it.
And then I saw the trailer and man-oh-man, can I not wait.
And I am as excited over Astro Boy as I was over Speed Racer. ![]()
(As for Imaginarium, I'm looking forward to it, in the same nervous sense I look forward to all Gilliam films. They're either really good, or really bad, but they're always unmistakably Gilliam Films and are worth the watch either way.)

Oh man, Legion looks like someone totally made a movie specifically for me. Damn, that looks seven shades of awesome.

@Hal: I know! Funny...Legion reminded me of Civilization, which you also liked.
