Author Scott Westerfeld says that his best-selling book, Uglies, will be available as a free PDF download for the next 30 days at the Simon and Schuster site. It also includes the first chpater of his upcoming steampunk adventure, Leviathan.

(Note: the download site asks for a US zip code which, as Scott points out, is five numbers.)
