Swag In The Mail: 9

9 canvas bagYou all know we receive books. However, from time to time, we also receive other stuff, affectionately know as swag. Our last pile of swag was for NBC’s new series Day One and was for a viral marketing site about a fictional cartoon show Sargasso Planet. This time, though, we received this interesting canvas bag in the mail from the nice folks promoting the movie 9. Now, I was all over that movie to begin with, but this is just way cool.

Your first thought was probably the same as mine, namely, what’s in the bag? Luckily it wasn’t a Brad Pitt “What’s in the box?” surprise, but something very art-ish and much less cranial.

The first thing to notice is the bag itself. It’s a burlap bag, with a zipper, much like the material the heroes of 9 are made from. There’s a giant ‘9’ on the front to give you a clue about what’s inside, just in case you couldn’t figure it out.

Inside was a form letter, a ‘foreward’ by Ray Kurzweil and a really sweet art book about 9, covering the characters, the backstory and loaded with cool stills from the movie. Yeah, I’m definitely going to see this movie. As I was on the fence before, which I wasn’t. But if I was, this would have made me go. You can see a couple of pics of the items below:

The art book itself is very high quality, with thick stock glossy paper filled with all kinds of interesting information and pictures. I’d say it’s something that would almost be worth paying for on it’s on. They could easily add some more concept art and show the evolution of the movie’s look and have a killer ‘Art Of 9’ book.

You can see few more pictures on my Flickr stream.
