Oh God please just make them stop.

It's utterly vile.  Farmer's name should be taken off those credits due to the harm that association with this complete travesty will inevitably do to his professional reputation.

I heartily agree with the previous comment. Moreover all copies of this thing should be hunted down and destroyed without mercy before the public is subjected to such evil.

I think I've seen this movie.

On the other hand, Phil Farmer milked Riverworld for seven books, so I suppose SyFy can do at least five more remakes before people truly have grounds for complaint.

It seems like a remake of the previous loosely adapted film rather than a more faithful adaptation of what was actually in the books. People resurrected in period clothing? And horses... again!! I will watch it. I will probably regret it, but I will watch it. Maybe the Ethical storyline will make this version less disagreeable than the previous one. I suspect however that the only people to actually enjoy this mini-series will be the ones who either have not read the books or who can totally distance themselves from the original works.

We'll the actual link to the books seems fairly tenuous, but on the other hand from the trailer looks like it could be a laugh. I enjoyed the books, but I don't think they are worth getting too puritanical about!

I had the misfortune of seeing an earlier adaptation of Riverworld on SciFi (the bad guy was Ares from Xena) and it was bad. This one doesn't look any better.

Sorry Syfy, I really wanted to like it, but "travesty" seems just like the right word here. :-(

I love the original Phillip J. Farmer story, I think it's a great concept, but ScyFy seems to be doing a poor job here, it's like they are trying to make it easier for everybody.

Science Fiction it's supposed to be hard and challenging, I don't want to be elitist, but Sci Fi shouldn't be cheap.
