Seeing Starbound reminds me that I need to get to reading Marsbound!

Heh-heh...Me too.  I have both sitting next to one another on a shelf.  I just finished Haldeman's The Accidental Time Machine, which was sadly left me surprisingly underwhelmed.

Accidental Time Machine was disappointing rubbish by Haldeman's standards. Marsbound otoh was a nice Heinlein-juvie riff and makes me look forward to Starbound.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Accidental Time Machine, which I really did enjoy myself.  While I wouldn't compare the two on any level, there were similarities that I saw to Jack Finney's novel, Time and Again, especially with the romantic aspect of the book, that added to the enjoyment for me.

Of course I'm not comparing it to Haldeman's seminal work...I've only read Old Twentieth, Accidental Time Machine, and a few short stories, I believe.

If Marsbound has a similar vibe to Heinlein's juveniles, then I am even more anxious to give it a read.
