Perhaps "the verbatim letter"?  I'm unclear Le Guin's words would otherwise be described pejoratively.

That particular item was my wording, Gary.  I never realized "verbiage" had a negative connotation.  However, according to Merriam Webster, there is also a non-derogatory meaning.  That's the definition I was using.
