My personal favorite device for time-travel is in the Japanese film Bubble-Go, aka Bubble Fiction, in which a modern woman travels back to bubble-era Japan (the late 1980s) in a washing machine. It was one of the inflight movies on the trip to Tokyo for the 2007 Yokohama Worldcon.
