Trailer: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
If you’ve never read the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels, you really should. If you have any interest in video games, then you really should the books. Scott Pilgrim is full of humor and video game shout outs that make it a blast to read. And the story of Scott having to defeat his girlfriend’s (Ramona) evil ex-boyfriends to ‘win’ her is pure genius. I wasn’t sure a live-action adaptation would even be possible. I’m still not sure, but the following trailer goes a long way to easing some of my pessimism.
Of course the last volume in the series isn’t out yet, but I think we can all agree on who is going to win…
We can only hope this movie makes Roger “Video games aren’t art” Ebert’s head explode from sheer cognitive dissonance.

Scott Pilgrim is one of my favorite bits of pop culture ever. It’s really great, even for people that don’t like video games. I got my girlfriend to read it and she loved it because of the relationship aspects in it. I’m excited for the movie, but as a separate entity from the books. I’m more excited for the last book, but the idea that they’re making a video game for a comic that references video games is pretty exciting too:
