Tie between Dreadnought and Troubled Waters
I like Out of the Dark. At first I was going to say Dreadnought the more I look at Out of the Dark the more I like it. It’s mysterious.
My top three:
1) Out of the Dark (tie)
1) Warhead (tie)
3) Dreadnaught (which has such a cool illustration)
The bookcover duels, for me, come down to a nice balance of color, typography and form that suits the thumbnail. If I looked at the enlarged version of each (which I never do) then I might pick other than I do. Case in point: I think Dreadnought has the best color palette, best font (typography in general is a drastically underated feature of a cover), and most intersting contrast of forms of all the covers shown, but from the thumbs I would have picked Tome or Troubled based on the thumbnails. When looking at the enlarged versions however, I would tie Driver and Warhead for second.
