Destination Moon holds the distinction of being considered as one of the first science fiction films to attempt accurate technical detail about a trip to the moon. Robert A. Heinlein, who contributed significantly to the script and served as the film’s technical adviser, also published a novella of the same name based on the screenplay. The film was directed by George Pal, who later produced When Worlds Collide, The War of the Worlds, and The Time Machine.
