Too soon for a remake?

The short answer: not if it turns out to be awesome.

I'd be up for a remake of THE PHANTOM MENACE, however.

They should drop The Phantom Menace entirely and start the story at the height of the Clone war. First movie: Anakin is growing disaffected with the Jedi leadership and sees them as defending an undesirable status quo.

Second movie: Anakin, who had seen Palpatine as representative of the defense of the corrupt Republic, learns that Palpatine plans to completely upend it and establish a more just society under a benevolent dictator---and finally decides that he's right.

Third movie: the declaration of the empire and open war between Sith and Jedi (I'd like to see a bit more moral ambiguity with both sides considering themselves the "good guys" on the side of justice and both having at least some valid points).

I am not happy about that. Why not continue that by simply adding another classic Spiderman villain like Lizard or Vulture. My opinion for that they decided to remake is that Tobey MacGuire is not in there. If that is the case, then it is so lame because in comic books, they change artists often and we still buy and read. Why not movies, too? We are aware that we can’t have the exact same actors and actresses for each character forever. I much rather see one with Lizard in it.

One thing to add here , I have set up a Facebook group for all interested Deaf geeks to join. Hearing friends are welcome to join, also.

I fear we will see an endless cycle of reboots every time a studio decides to squeeze a little more money out of a property. I don't see the need for a Spider-man reboot considering that I clearly remember the first one (and it wasn't that long ago).

It looks darker and edgier...but why is this coming out so soon after the original trilogy?

Although, the second Hulk movie was a partial reboot of the first Hulk movie and those weren't too far apart.

They have to move the story-telling from the main Marvel universe to the Ultimate Marvel universe in order for the stories to mesh with all the Avengers and associated heroes movies. I wouldn’t be in the least surprised to see Samuel L Jackson show up at the end of this one too.
