No mention of three of my favourites: The Writer and the Critic; Galactic Suburbia and Nerdzilla. Maybe they are too Australian in their tone?
If you like Radiolab, you’ll want to check out To the Best of Our Knowledge. WTF with Marc Maron is great for fans of The Sound of Young America and The Nerdist. Slate.com’s podcasts are awesome as well: The Political Gabfest, Culture Gabfest, Double X, and their new Digital Manners show.
Great topic, thanks! Can’t wait to download.
Great additions (and glaring omissions!), folks.
See, Charles? This is why we trying to get you on the podcast!
Sword and Laser
The Secret World Chronicle!
I could (and would) have listed many more, including S&L, Secret World, Agony Column, Squeecast and many, many, more. But Patrick and John keep cutting off my feed…
When I get around to it, I’ll update my “Year in Audio Shorts” list at Ye Olde Bloge.
Fred stole nearly all of mine…except Norman Centuries (though he is a bit slow on the updates)
TW
Norman Centuries…yeah, I started listening to that since I liked 12 Byzantine rulers. But he isn’t very quick in updating.
I didn’t list Squeecast because at the time of recording, there was only one. Now there are two…
12 BR and Norman Centuries are two favorites and I recommend the associated book (“Lost to the West”). In fact that has been a major problem, for me, with these podcasts–because “History of Rome”, “12 Byzantine Rulers”, “Hardcore History” and others I’ve bought so many non-fiction books recently that they are overtaking the fiction shelves.
The wallet cringes!
Hey, what was that program mentioned that turns audio into a podcast? huff something…?
^
HuffDuffer
The Future and You is a great podcast that deals primarily with futurism but features a lot of great interviews with SF writers. Tons of great content.
That’s an insane number of podcasts!
So I’ll add one more.
Comedy Bang Bang
Thanks for the shoutouts to Adventures In SciFi Publishing!
One thing:
Id like to thank Patrick for the “three things we dont talk about”.
It really sucks to be listening to a podcast then have it go off on some wrongheaded tangent about how beef is BBQ (or something from one of the other forbidden topics) makes me turn the podcast off and never go back…
Sigh… It’s BOWL-yer. Like “bowl yer ass off,” without the “ass off.”
