What about Robert Silverberg’s Downward to the Earth? A retelling of Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Comes with a short story called “The Secret Sharer” which closely recasts Conrad’s story of the same name. Ray Bradbury wrote “Leviathan 99″ as an homage to Melville’s Moby Dick.
Good addition!
