I used to buy books based on spines: yellow spines from DAW always got a look. The Ballantine Adult Fantasy logo, Ballantine’s double B, Baen’s rocket-and-dragon, Ace, Bantam-Spectra…all those spines would get a look from me.

I have a lot of spines. I have a lot of electrons. Both are valid ways to read. One has been around a lot longer than the other and doesn’t require a ever-changing gadget to use.

To poo-poo a (free) podcast done by volunteers because they don’t qualify whether they are electrons or pulp seems pretty silly. And, has it has been pointed out, not all the books mentioned are “e” yet.

Are you seriously saying that you wouldn’t read a book if you couldn’t get it in “e”? You’re missing out on some good reads, then.

I’m a very occasional panelist and I only read palms. And that’s only when people write something on them. I see a lot of phone numbers. Luckily I live in Florida so there are lots of palms here. There are two growing in my front yard for instance. But no one has written anything on them. I also have a couple of palms sprouting out of my wrists, but I always know what’s going to be written on them just before it comes out. It’s kind of like having the ARC.

if so – wow.

i was supposed to be on this podcast, but something came up. good to know i would have been half-creditable, as i read a mix of paper and e-books.
