I know this isn't what you're saying, Paul, but you comment triggered a memory...a realization I had reading Alternate History stories, specifically Sideways in Crime edited by Lou Anders:
I was never a student of history. It always bored me. It wasn’t until I ran across engaging alternate history stories in science fiction anthologies that I took a mildly active interest. Admittedly it was limited to Googling for the true history to better understand the fictional one, but even so, the sub-genre of alternate history intrigued me.
Which is to say: a good story will make you rethink settings you may not like.

Historical Urban Fantasy. A new subgenre? I don’t know. Its not really my period and locale in history, as much as it pains me to say it, but the buzz around your book, David, has been very good indeed.
