They say you shouldn’t judge a book by cover…unless it’s an SF Signal Book Cover Smackdown!

It’s time once again to have your way with some upcoming book covers, this time with a selection of November science fiction releases.

Here is today’s “rainbow” of contenders…

Your Mission (should you choose to accept it): Tell us which cover you like best and why.

  1. They are all very good but I’ll pick Edge of Infinity edited by Jonathan Strahan, by a hairsbreadth.

  2. I like the The Ascendant Stars by Michael Cobley cover best. I like that tone of green, the off-center explode-y star thing really catches my eye, the proportions of the ship sort of match the proportions of the font up top, and it’s got some nice contrast effect happening. (ha, I KNEW all those graphic design classes I took back in my college days would come in handy one day!)

    but I wouldn’t buy it. it’s book 3? i haven’t even read book 1 or 2!

  3. I’m going with the mayority here, Edge of Infinity has the better composition, tipography and colors. The other two, although colorful, fail on something. The Ascendant Stars being the avarage cover that you have seen thousands of times and The Age of Scorpion looks off balance (very heavy on top).

  4. I spotted the ‘Seeds of Earth’ the other day at the book store, realized it was the start of the ‘Humanity’s Fire’ series (which I remembered from this article) and had to get it. Looking forward to starting the series.
