Wow I have never read that book or seen the movie – though it shows up on TV sometimes. But I am thinking now I should. The substitute teachers never showed it in school and I never managed to watch it with friends.

Also, did not realize this phrase “Have fun storming the castle!” comes from The Princess Bride.

Love this article. My debut novel EXOTIC MUSIC OF THE BELLY DANCER publishes in April 2013, and I actually quote Miracle Max. While Goldman’s ironic tongue-in-cheek campiness is tough to emulate, his writing should be nonetheless equally regarded alongside the works of other great SF humorists like Douglas Adams, Harry Harrison, Terry Pratchett and of course Kurt Vonnegut.

I am not surprised Rachel Aaron’s work was influenced by the Princess Bride. I might use a quote here, but I will resist.
