Patrick, I was interested in your comments about humor and fantasy/SF. You should give Glen Cook’s Garrett PI series a try (Glen Cook is a big influence on Butcher), along with Robert Asprin, that Scalzi fellow, Cory Doctorow, Charles Stross (Laundry stories)…
Lots and lots of humor in genre fiction. Even some of the grimmest (David Drake) has humor in it.
Douglas Adams obviously (maybe you mentioned that). Stanislaw Lem (not Solaris).
It’s rare I listen to a single episode of any podcast more than once. This one had me laughing hard enough in spots and was highly inspirational in others that I had to repeat the podcast.
