Gotta admit, I actually like I, Robot very much. Not as a reflection of Asimov’s stories (although there are some nice nods to individual Asimov stories, most notably Robot Dreams). And I thought he was fine in I Am Legend, it was the decisions of the writers to ‘happy ever after’ the ending that put a taint on the film.

I hope the studio execs did an end-run around Shyamalan and intentionally revealed his apes-it-was-Earth-all-along “twist” in this trailer.

The trailer looks extremely promising but yea, Shyamalan’s plotting really falls flat most of the time. Then again, it’s only fair to judge film makers on individual projects. I’m definitely going to check it out because it at least looks pretty. Regardless of how it turns out, I’m the type of SF fan that will take what they can get (see: Prometheus).

With Upstream Color, Oblivion, Elysium, Pacific Rim, and Star Trek 2, I haven’t been this excited about upcoming movies in a long time.

I don’t think I can trust him either, but at the same time I’m pretty willing to give a Wil Smith sf-ish film a chance. This one may be one that I wait to check the Rotten Tomatoes blurbs before deciding if it is a theater viewing or a dollar Redbox checkout.

Doesn’t matter how good the trailer is. Shamalamadingdong hasn’t made anything good in a long while…I’ve been burned enough times by him now to know better than to be enthusiastic about anything with his name on it.
