He strikes me as the type who never saw Star Wars, because he was at religious school or something, will watch it once, go “who cares” the public will buy anything, then make a weak shitfest.

Star Trek sucked, was stupid, and boring.

A super nova will destroy the UNIVERSE! That’s moronic, if not submoronic.

The only hope is if an excellent writer creates the story, then he phones in direction.

Tiny nitpick… Abrams’ reboot of Star Trek was the 11th Star Trek film, not the 9th.

Nice article, Andrew. Affleck would have been interesting choice for a number of reasons, not the least of which is is friendship/connection to STAR WARS uber-fan Kevin Smith.

On the other hand, from the minute I learned of the Disney/SW deal, I kept thinking they could do much worse than handing the SW ‘brand’ over to the Pixar folks. Great team of innovative minds who produce films that both bring in boatloads of money and critical praise. Granted, those are animated flicks, but one could argue much of what we’ll likely see in SW will be computer generated.
