I have mixed feelings about Pacific Rim-I love del Toro but this reeks of the dismal Transformers to me.
Carl-del Toro didn't direct Dont be afraid of the Dark-just had a producers credit.
Not a fan of Will Smith and I wish he wouldnt keep pushing his kids on us. Willow Smith-please go away.
Elysium looks to be the most promising.

Pacific Rim tops my list. Very few directors have never disappointed me, so del Toro directing is its strongest selling point.
After Earth is an interesting premise, plus you have father and son working together.

Thus far I intend on catching each of these in the theater. There is always a chance that I will hear reviews that are so scathing that I'll save my money, but I'm also generally skeptical of reviews for SFF films because not enough of the professional reviewers seem to be able to come at it from an honest perspective. Meaning that there often seems to be a lot of "I don't really like science fiction/fantasy..." going on.

Plus I want to support these kinds of films in the hopes that they will make more.

I'm very leery of Pacific Rim, largely because I enjoy the work of Guilermo del Toro and I have this bad feeling this may be the first (or really second...I didn't like Don't Be Afraid of the Dark) film of his that will not work for me. Hopefully those fears are unfounded.

I don't have the Wil Smith loathing that some do and so I'm all over going to see him in any action flick, the same with Tom Cruise. I'm not a drooling fan of either actor but I am entertained more often than not so holding out hopes for both of those films.

Hadn't heard abouy Elysium but am willing to see about anything with Damon in it as well.
