In honor of Gerry Anderson, who recently passed away, Neil Gaiman took the stage with Amanda Palmer and band to sing the theme song for Anderson’s Fireball XL5.
It’s quite epic.
To see what Neil is talking about in the intro, regarding the scooters, here is the original series opening…

John – thanks for putting this up in tribute to Gerry Anderson.
Despite what Neil says, Fireball XL-5 is surprisingly good science fiction TV fare – despite the puppets and being just a bit shy of its 50th anniversary. (I was quite surprised upon re-watching a couple of years ago to find out that they paid attention to things like physics.)
Anderson has actually given us as many, if not more, SF tv shows than Roddenberry – Supercar, Torchy the Battery Boy, Captain Scarlet, Fireball XL-5, Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Stingray, Space: 1999 & UFO, Space Police, as well as several feature length films such as Journey to the Far Side of the Sun/Doppleganger.
Gerry was truly a fireball.
Here’s my remix of the theme song. With Sweep and Ukuleles
