I just opened about 20 Amazon pages so I can add things to my wishlist. Needless to say, I will never be able to read every cool book I want to read this month. Damn the world and it's 24-hour orbit!

Gah! Too many books. A lot catching my eye, but the cover that snagged my eyeballs the quickest was the Apes of Wrath anthology. Neat.

Homunculus is a great book, Susan. In fact I've enjoyed all of Blaylock's Langdon St. Ives novels. I need to get to Aylesford Skull here soon. I'm glad they are reprinting these older stories of his as they are, in my opinion, some of the best examples of what steampunk stories can be when the focus is on the story and not on the aesthetic.

Wow, I agree - it's like Christmas, but without all the obligations and stress. So many books, so little time.

Definitely going to pick up American Elsewhere; The Best of All Possible Worlds; The Fair Grounds; Dogs With Their Eyes Shut; and Homunculus. I'm also very interested in The Different Girl; and Hell to Pay.

I'd also like to try Animal Alterity, and Here Be Dragons. I've already read Rhetorics of Fantasy (great book). Several other books look very interesting, but I'll want to read up on them a bit before committing more of my book budget. Maybe the library will get some of them....

Anyway, as Carl said above, it's only February 1st and I already know I'll be spending too much on books again this month. Thanks for posting such a great listing!

I look forward to this post every month. It is like a potential Christmas every time. Of course it also means my wallet suffers. But still...

Tim Pratt's short story collection intrigues me.

I'm interested in picking up Farside by Ben Bova.

Last Train to Jubilee Bay has a cover that draws me in and the brief story tease makes me curious.

The Best of All Possible Worlds is a must buy. I've heard so much about it that I have to read it for myself.

Decker's The Burn Zone looks good. Haven't read him.

I'm currently reading, among other things, Neal Asher's The Departure and the first chapter sucked me right in. This is my first time reading him.

I didn't realize Dahlquist was writing a YA book. I liked his writing style in The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters.

And of course I plan to continue along with the episodic releases of Scalzi's The Human Division.

So there you go, my allowance is already spent for the month and it is only day one.
