I will just come and say that in my opinion that cover is awful. Just by looking at the cover there is no way I would ever have picked up this book… HOWEVER… I’m now very intrigued by it after reading your review. I’m glad you were able to get past the cover and clue me in on a book it sounds as if I shouldn’t pass up.

I kind of like the randomness of the cover, myself, but agree that it doesn’t seem to reflect the book that I’ve read so far.

And I’m an experienced reader and book covers are not irrelevant to me, largely because I am a fan of SFF illustrators and I like to see good cover art. I know that isn’t what you meant but thought I’d take the opportunity to insert a random plug for all those great SFF illustrators out there.

I think to an experienced reader book covers are irrelevant. They seem to be for random buys. Maybe that’s the majority of sales. I don’t know.
