Catching Up on SciFi Movies (Part 24): The Amazing Spider-Man / The Dark Knight Rises / Chronicle

Continuing a trend tailor-made for the Twitter generation, here are my quick takes on a few recently-watched genre-related films.

My brief thoughts follow…

  • The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) – Considering that I thought this remake was way too soon after Sam Raimi’s version, it was a surprisingly solid and watchable, with enough differences to keep it (mostly) fresh.
  • The Dark Knight Rises (2012) – Seeing as how much I adored The Dark Knight, this one had a lot to live up to. It’s not as strong as the previous film (Bane was a little lackluster), but Anne Hathaway rocked it as Catwoman.
  • Chronicle (2012) – A wonderfully done superhero film. Period. The only negative was the shaky-cam effect that did more to annoy than instill any sense of reality.

  1. Spidey had cheap ass writing. Just Cheap Trick after Cheap trick.(I’m speaking of peoples reactions and not the stunts)

Yeah, DNR was over the top and the robin thing was laughable.

Chronicle was Twilight for non Emo Teenage boys.

  2. I felt DKR was overlong, a fart in the face of TDK and Hathaway not good as Catwoman.

Chroncile on the other hand, is with the INCREDIBLES one of the two best superhero movies not based on an existing property.
