I heard people saying, “I don’t know how they made that so good! It’s not an original story and I don’t know why I liked it so much.”

I know the reason.

It’s because there’s no camp, the characters act like it’s real, there’s no tired character stereotypes, the pace is fast, and so there’s a great sense of action. It has the same approach as all the recent, good, comicbook films in that if the situations and character are taken seriously, it’s great.

I especially enjoyed the lack of stereotypes, in that the king is a good person, smart, the soldiers are as well, meaning they aren’t made to look like idiots to promote Jack as the hero. Everyone in the film is heroic, which is a nice change.

I saw it in imax 3d and the film made good use of the media, so if you’re looking for an exciting movie, you should do see it in the theater.

Side Note: I started reading Brom’s The Child Thief and am enjoying it. The book would make a good film in the same vein.
