Adaptation Watch: THE KINGKILLER CHRONICLE by Patrick Rothfuss Optioned for TV!
Fans of The Kingkiller Chronicle series by Patrick Rothfuss have reason to celebrate: Deadline is reporting that the series has been optioned for television adaptation by New Regency Productions and 20th Century Fox Television.
The Kingkiller Chronicle — comprised of The Name Of The Wind, The Wise Man’s Fear and a forthcoming conclusion to the trilogy (tentatively titles The Doors of Stone) — is the story of Kvothe, who tells the story of his life to Devan Lochees (known as Chronicler). The books are largely comprised of flashbacks on Kvothe’s life told over three days, with the narrative occasionally switching to the present day, where faerie folk (known as demons to the locals) are showing up more frequently than usual.
It’s always a gamble whether something that’s optioned actually makes it to the screen. What do you think? Is this something you want to see? Who would you cast?
