In episode 218 of the SF Signal Podcast, Patrick Hester chats with Brandon freaking Sanderson – oh yeah!

About Brandon: Mr. Sanderson’s first book, Elantris, came out in 2005 and long time listeners will remember that it was the inspiration for John Anealio’s song “Sarene”. Following Elantris we got the Mistborn trilogy, its followup The Alloy of Law, Warbreaker, and The Way of Kings, the first in a projected ten-volume series called The Stormlight Archive.

Mr. Sanderson was also hand picked to complete Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, a daunting task for which I thanked him and shook his hand at WorldCon in Reno while I was standing around waiting for Brent Weeks.

The only author to make the short list for the David Gemmell Legend Award six times in four years, Brandon won that award in 2011 for The Way of Kings. He’s also been nominated for a slew of other awards, and has won the 2010 Whitney award for Best Speculative Fiction Award and Best Novel of the Year Award for The Way of Kings, the 2011 Whitney Award for Best Speculative Fiction for The Alloy of Law, and the 2013 Hugo Award for Best Novella for The Emperor’s Soul.

And last, but certainly not least, he is part of the Writing Excuses podcast along with Howard Tayler, Mary Robinette Kowal, and Dan Wells and tonight marks my hat trick – I’ve officially had 3 of the four hosts on this podcast.

Brandon Sanderson’s #1 New York Times bestseller STEELHEART is the first book in the Reckoners series.
