  1. Mike Cole says he’s stuck writing Mil Fiction. So he’s trying to get out of it writing Dark Fantasy with the main protagonist a young gay female. Sounds like a indie book to me.

  2. Happy to be corrected – of the four panelists making up the Superstar Military Science Fiction discussion, one has direct military experience, and most of that as a contractor vice combat arms. Is my understanding correct?

  3. Rat, you are correct. Next week’s episode has a couple of veterans though. Several others were invited, but it all comes down to scheduling.

There will be a blog piece running next week, as well, built around an interview with several special operations combat veterans.

    1. Jaym, thank you. I will check out the blog post you reference since I come from that community. I am interested to see who is participating and what their take is on science fiction.

When I pulled out a copy of Drake, Asimov, Haldeman or Hienlein during a quiet moment (usually during a trip in the back of a cargo airplane, or riding a phib) the content and the genre were wholly unrecognized. I have since met a very few real specops guys who read sf – and I met them at cons, not during work duties. I have met quite a few non specops folks, mostly AF, who are very faanish.
