[Trailer Park] Maleficent / The Signal / How to Train Your Dragon 2

Her’s another crop of trailers for genre fans to get excited about. Or not.

Maleficent

Great-looking set pieces and fire-breathing dragons? I’m thinking fantasy fans may wanna see this one.

Release: May 30, 2014

Maleficent explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic Sleeping Beauty and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

The Signal

Laurence Fishburne telling the main character that all is not as it appears…? Where have I heard that before?

Release: June 13, 2014

A group of college students are lured to the middle of the desert by a hacker.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

I love the animation style of both of these and it looks like this one adds some more personal drama to the story.

Release: June 20, 2014

The thrilling second chapter of the epic How to Train Your Dragon 2 trilogy brings us back to the fantastical world of Hiccup and Toothless five years after the two have successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snoutlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.

  1. How To Train Your Dragon 2 will be, without a doubt, the single best animated movie this year.

And I CANNOT wait. The US gets it 3 weeks before the UK (June 13th vs July 4th), which is annoying as sin, but I seriously cannot wait.

    Squeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Hopefully we’ll see at least the first half of Defenders of Berk arrive on DVD before (doubt the second half will hit at the same time), even though it technically won’t be canon to the films.
