“Come Out, Wonka!”

According to Hollywood North Report, Johnny Depp has been cast in the still-impending re-re-adaptation of Richard Matheson’s wonderful book I Am Legend. Previous reports had Wil Smith’s name attached to the project in the role previously played by Vincent Price (The Last Man on Earth) and Charlton “They’re Made of People! Heston (The Omega Man).

I’m guessing this news means that we’re closer to seeing the finished product. As always, it will be interesting to see how well they adhere to the story and the ways in which they differ. Maybe the vampiric cry of “Come Out, Neville!” gets an update?

I like most Matheson stuff, but “I Am Legend” is VASTLY over-rated. “The Omega Man” was far superior to the story and to the Vincent Price film version “The Last man on Earth” (itself better than the original story). The vampires in the story are idiots.

  2. Personally, I found I am Legend to be better than Omega Man, but I have not seen the Vincent Price film. I liked the story and I think a more accurate rendition would be very welcome…

  3. this book amazes me. i dont care about the movies. the books are always better and more original. the movies change the plot and story to which is really gay. the book is the best and nothing beats it greg. and the vampires are supposed to be idiots because the bateria decreases brain function mr. obsevent,
