SF Tidbits for 1/22/08
- At Science Fiction Weekly:
- Paul Di Filippo reviews Hunter’s Run by George R.R. Martin, Gardner Dozois and Daniel Abraham. “This novel is at once old-fashioned — like some dream collaboration between B. Traven (The Treasure of the Sierra Madre [1927]) and Keith Laumer — and also as up to date as the latest M. John Harrison.”
- John Clute reviews Gregory Frost’s Shadowbridge. “…as benumbing for an adult to read as almost any story written for the Young Adult market, whose products are about as close to genuine fiction as megachurches are to monasteries where silence is observed.” Yikes! (Andrew Wheeler responds.)
- The Times has an excerpt from J.G. Ballard’s forthcoming autobiography, Miracles of Life, in which it is revealed that Ballard has been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. See also: Related interview. [via the Ballardian]
- Fast Forward TV interviews Lawrence Watt-Evans (also in mp3) and Michael Swanwick (also in mp3). [via SFF Audio]
- Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist interviews R. Scott Bakker (The Warrior-Prophet).
- Bibliophile Stalker interviews Rob Rogers (Devil’s Cape).
- John Picacio serves up Elric artwork and soundtrack.
- David Louis Edelman tells us How to Write a Novel (Part 2).

Hunter’s Run is a thoroughly enjoyable, page-turner of a story. Well worth picking up and reading.
