  1. Best Cover: Easy pick here, The Taint and other Novellas is the only one I really like. It feels like a Cthulhu story and intrigues the viewer.

Worst Cover: Again easy for me, Living with the Dead is a typical cheap “sex sells” cover. It tells the viewer very little about the story.

All the other covers are rather forgettable.

I’ve read Lumley and many of the Warhammer authors and find they’re quite predictable (In a good way – You know what you’re getting).  If you like the genre/world that they’re writing in  than you’ll probably like their stories.  Quality is subjective but at least they avoid the bait and switch covers and descriptions that have become my pet peeve.

  2. Well, hands down since you guys got me hooked–I’m buying all the Warhammer editions!

  3. Fred,

I really like the Horus Heresy books – I think they do a fine job of capturing the feel of Warhammer 40K yet offer some unique insight on how things got to be the way they are now in the game universe.   I would avoid The Descent of Angels since I felt that book was not complete.
