  • Are you one of the 33% of males or 25% of females that use a PC while watching TV? That would have seemed wrong just a few weeks ago, but then I was chatting with SF Signal’s Kevin while watching LOST and darn if it wasn’t even more entertaining. If you are one of these poor souls, what are you doing while the TV is on?
  • From the “I didn’t know that” department, Xbox Live Marketplace and PBS have teamed up to bring Xbox 360 viewers episodes of the PBS Science Series. This week they released 400 Years of the Telescope, which sounds cool. And all for 160 points, which is either around $100 or $2, I can never remember the exchange rate…
  • The Omaha Examiner asks will the Great Recession kill my favorite sci-fi? Breathless hyperbole aside, the fates of the listed SF shows (Chuck,Dollhouse, Sarah Connor among others, probably have as much to do with the poor economic times as with low ratings. Networks aren’t going to stick with a show until it finds an audience and will be quick with the cancel hammer.
  • In a nice nod to fans, the Star Trek Online site posted part of the backstory leading up the time period in the game in it’s “Path to 2049” log. Not content to post just a Q&A, they created a storyline that takes place in Quark’s Bar and adds a little storytelling element. I’m rather excited about this game I don’t mind saying.
  • Speaking of games, the Fallout series is a very popular post-apocalyptic set of games, with Fallout 3 being the latest, greatest installment. The rumor is we may get a Fallout TV show or movie, based on the game. That would be sweet. None of this Jericho “rain washes the fallout completely away and not into the water table” nonsense.
  • Sci Fi Japan has been running a very interesting series of articles about the classic anime series Battleship Yamato (Starblazers here in the U.S.).They’ve obviously done a lot of work. Go read part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4. Good stuff!
