Stargate SG-1 Watchathon – ‘In The Line Of Duty’ (S02E02)

Description: O’Neill and the SG-1 team are on a mission to Nasya, hoping to rescue the survivors of a planet that has been attacked by the Goa’uld. During the rescue, Dr. Samantha Carter’s body is taken over by a Goa’uld, which returns to Earth.

The writers for this episode certainly don’t rest on their laurels from the season opener. “In the Line of Duty” opens with a very action-packed and unexpected teaser act. From this one scene, an entire new story line opens up for this season, with major implications for SG-1.

One thing that’s always bugged me, it’s a little thing, but why exactly can Cassandra sense when a person has been taken over by a Goa’uld? Seems awfully convenient. Ah right, stuff in her blood that allows her to sense Goa’uld. How very mitichlorian of them. IS it just me or does anyone else find the base alarm to be highly annoying?

Otherwise, a rather ho-hum episode. Aside from setting up later storylines this does little for me. It’s not horrible, not great either, just middling.

  1. Cassandra can sense the Goa’uld because she has Naqudah in her blood from the explosive device put in her in Season 1’s Singularity (Gou’ald also have Naqudah in their blood).  This is the same reason why Carter can sense Goa’uld in later episodes.
