Tube Bits For 07/07/2009

  • Fans of Farscape will be delighted to know that the series will have a nice presence at Comic Con this year. Rockne O’Bannon, Ben Browder and Claudia Black will be present at a panel to introduce the Farscape mega-DVD set, which will encompass all fours seasons of the show. Now if only I could have been interested in the show, at all…
  • Remember that Star Wars TV series Lucas has in the works? Well it’s been confirmed that pre-production has started in Australia. In fact, the series itself will be filmed Down Under, be aimed at adults and will focus on “relationships and emotional landscapes.” I’m not sure whether I should be scared or not.
  • Sometime this morning the Sci Fi Channel morphed into Sy Fy, and Wired has an article about the channel and it’s changeover. And with Warehouse 13 debuting tonight at 9/8C, at least there is some actual SF on Sy Fy, and don’t forget Eureka starting up this Friday. Also, if you are a Twitter-phile, you can follow the channel @syfy (it’s a Twitter thing).
  • How do you know when your series has jumped the shark and is coming around again to jump even further into misery? Why you toss in a little “sapphic experimentation” between two of the leads! Seriously, how can anyone view this as anything other than a sad attempt by the Heroes scribes to generate an audience?
  • Examiner.com takes a look at NBC’s new summer series Merlin and says it offers old-fashioned idealism. I haven’t seen any of it yet, but thanks to the magic of Hulu, it’s all right there for the viewing. Now I just need to find some time.
