Phoenix Pick is continuing their “Free eBook-a-Month” promotion!

For July, you can get an eBook copy of The Last Legends by A.A. Attanasio for free with the coupon code below!

Here’s a description:

Seven billion years from now, long after the Sun has died and human life itself has become extinct, alien beings reincarnate humanity from our fossilized DNA drifting as debris in the void of deep space. We are reborn to serve as bait in a battle to the death between the Rimstalker, humankind’s reanimator, and the zotl, horrific creatures who feed vampire-like on the suffering of intelligent lifeforms.

The reborn children of Earth are told: “You owe no debt to the being that roused you to this second life. Neither must you expect it to guide you or benefit you in any way.” Yet humans choose sides, as humans will, participating in the titanic struggle between Rimstalker and zotl in ways strange and momentous.

Just head on over to the Phoenix Pick Catalogue, select the book, and use this Coupon Code: 9991300. (Note: Coupon code expires July 31, 2010.)

  1. This has long been one of my favourite novels. I can’t believe it’s not better known. Of course, Attanasio mixes in some patently ridiculous New Age claptrap like “souls of light” and whatnot, but the sheer weirdness and beauty of the Rimstalker’s worlds and the variety of their inhabitants is just…mindbending. Plus, the zotl are  completely bad-assed!

  2. This didn’t work right for me. It gave me an error when I tried to download it on my ipod touch. Maybe this code can only be used once? I signed up to have a free ebook code sent to me each month, so I’ll see if that code works any better.

  3. Hi Cheryl. My name is Shahid and I’m with Arc Manor (Phoenix Pick is our SF imprint).

I’m sorry you have had problems downloading the book. I have checked the site and it seems to be operating as normal. Perhaps there was a load problem when you were attempting to access it.

In any case, do try again, and if the problem persists for you write me directly at and I’ll be happy to email you a copy of the book. However, do note that I will not be able to email it for free after July 31 since the book will go back to its original price after that.

  4. Just an addition to my earlier comment. We have not checked for compatibility with iPod Touch specificallyh, so that may be causiing your problem.
