TRAILER: NBC’s ‘The Cape’

In 2011, NBC will begin airing a new superhero series called The Cape. It looks to be more traditional than more recent superhero TV offerings [cough, cough…Heroes] in that this guy doesn’t reject his powers, but embraces them to fight crime.

And look! It’s got Summer Glau.

Bonus! Verne Troyer Martin Klebba kicking some @$$.

After the jump, the trailer…

  1. Sooooooo, it’s Spawn.

  2. In 2001?

  3. Seems very WB Network to me. I also don’t approve of the man/boy bed scenes but that might be my interpretation.

“I also don’t approve of the man/boy bed scenes but that might be my interpretation.”

It’s pretty clear that the guy is in the same bed as the kid because he is the kid’s father and they bond over reading comics.

So what are you implying? That a father who lies in the same bed as their son and shares the joy of reading has sinister motives. That insults me as a father whose read plenty of bedtime stories with my two boys.

Tell me you don’t understand a snarky comment when you see it.

  6. Summer Glau is looking unnaturally normal.

  7. Funny typ-o! Shouldn’t 2001 be 2010 or 2011 or something? Unless this is a time travel show. Heeheehee!

  8. D’oh!  If I had a nickel for every typo I made, I’d have…well…a lot of nickels.  Fixing now.

  9. I remember seeing the trailer earlier for this. Looks positively awful.

  10. Also as a note, the shorter actor in the preview is not Verne Troyer, it’s Martin Klebba, who had a reoccuring role on Scrubs and appeared in the most recent 2 Pirates films.

  11. Gah! This post is just riddled with errors!  Someone get me an Editor, quick!

  12. There’s also a problem in the show’s title. They spelled “crap” wrong.

I’d take the WB network comment as snark, but not the second part. One of my gripes about TV is that fathers are usually potrayed as incompetent dickheads – it’s a pleasant surprise to see a slightly positive portrayal of a father in a TV show.

As to whether I’ll wtach the show – probably not.

  14. I dunno, I think I’ll watch it. It looked like fun, potentially, without being as far up its own ass, like Heroes was. If they get a few writers who are really enthusiastic to be writing, er, Batman (AND Spider-Man…?) it could be good.

At some point, a villain will need to put Summer Glau into a wheel-chair, to complete the Batman-ness (Batmannery?) of the show. 😀
