Trailer: Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

Fresh off their success with the new Sherlock TV series, where Sherlock Holmes now exists in modern day London, the BBC is apparently adapting Douglas Adams’ Dirk Gently books for the small screen. There’s really not a lot to go on in the below trailer, but it has a Monk feel to it. The lead actor even looks a bit like Tony Shaloub. That’s not a bad thing by the way, it’s just the feeling I had watching the trailer. See for yourself.

Coming soon at a future date sometime in the future. Soonish.

  1. High hopes, but I hope that Adams doesn’t become another film “property” like Philip K. Dick, unceasingly mined for “franchises” that decreasingly resemble their source material.

  2. Upon viewing, I was thinking less of Tony Shaloub than of a combination of Max Headroom’s Edison Carter for the one and the math wiz from Numb3rs for the other.

  3. I’m surprised they didn’t even mention the paranormal or sf elements in the novels.  Weird stuff sells these days.
